Meet Your Administrators

Principal- Les Crawley

I am thrilled and honored to introduce myself as the Principal of George Junior High School. Joining such a dedicated staff and community fills me with pride and excitement. I am eager to contribute to the incredible environment that exists within this community.

With over 20 years of experience in education, my journey began in 2003 at Alief E.A Olle Middle School as a 7th grade math teacher and coach for football and basketball. Over the years, I continued to teach and coach at Jack Albright Middle School before obtaining my master's in educational leadership from The University of Houston Clear Lake in 2010. I have since served as an assistant principal at Alief Hastings High School for a decade and recently as the Associate Principal of Lamar Consolidated High School from 2022 to present.

My primary goal at GJH is to ensure that each student receives an exceptional education tailored to their individual needs. By fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration among staff and the community, I aim to create a rich educational experience for every student. I firmly believe that education is the key to unlocking endless opportunities and will strive to ensure that every student feels valued and supported.

I believe that open communication is key to student success. I will provide weekly updates through our Ranger Round Up every Sunday and I encourage you to follow us on social media for daily updates. Your participation in school activities and events is crucial to student success, and I invite you to engage with us both before and after school. I am excited to embark on this journey with you, to meet each student and family, and I welcome any questions, concerns, or introductions you may have.

7th Grade Assistant Principal- Melinda Cave

Melinda Cave is honored to begin her new role as an administrator at George Junior High, where she brings over 12 years of experience in education, leadership, and student development. Her journey in education began at Clute Intermediate, where she taught for five years and discovered her passion for building strong, supportive learning environments that help students thrive both academically and personally.

For the past seven years, Melinda has proudly served the students, families, and staff of George Junior High. During her first five years on campus, she taught English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) and coached a wide range of sports, including volleyball, basketball, and track. Her ability to connect with students both in the classroom and on the court helped her build meaningful relationships and foster a culture of high expectations and student growth.

Over the last two years, Melinda transitioned into the role of instructional coach, where she worked closely with teachers to improve instructional practices, support curriculum implementation, and enhance student learning outcomes. In addition to her work in instruction and athletics, she has also served as both the Campus Testing Coordinator and Campus Athletic Coordinator, roles that have given her a broad perspective and deep understanding of the many moving parts that contribute to a successful school.

Melinda is a firm believer that every child is capable of greatness when given the right support, guidance, and opportunity. She is committed to working hand-in-hand with parents, staff, and the greater school community to ensure every student at George Junior High experiences success, growth, and a sense of belonging.

As a proud member of the community she serves, Melinda is deeply invested in the continued success of GJH. She looks forward to the upcoming school year and the opportunity to continue making a positive impact on the campus she proudly calls home.
